August 11th, 2010I’ve just finished up a bunch of design work for local party throwers/event organisers/promoters Picnic, including helping put together their website plus the above posters. A quick one color job for an upcoming party featuring Italian Disco maestro Bottin and a nautical/art deco inspired number for a new regular Saturday night party ‘High & Dry’. Ahoy mates!
UBU LAND
July 18th, 2010I picked this book up recently at a flea market in Paris, ‘Ubu Land’ by Jean Claude Quiniou and Francois Monet published in 1968. I’m a big fan of the illustration style, mixing collage, photography and drawing to come up with something quite psychedelic. I am unable to read French but it is not hard to tell that the message is one which is strongly anti America/Vietnam War. Here are a few selected pages…
HUP HUP HOLLAND
July 12th, 2010I have been listening to people bag out the world cup final all day about what a poor game it was. As an Australian with Dutch nationality and a fan of football I’ve always followed the Dutch team closely and I was very disappointed that they came so close only to fail in the end at a World Cup Final for a 3rd time. What was just as disappointing was having to sit through the shockingly bias SBS commentary, it was hard to believe that those morons were even watching the same game I was. All that aside I thoroughly enjoyed the match and thought the Dutch played very well and were unlucky. Congratulations to Spain on the win.

April 27th, 2010MORPH
April 25th, 2010As a little kid Morph was my favorite show on TV. Revisiting it 20+ years on (thanks YouTube) I still find it as enjoyable as I did back then. From what I have seen of the overdone, CGI animated childrens television shows of today I can’t help but feel a bit sorry for the new wave of kids growing up as none of todays shows compare to what was out there in the 80’s. I think there’s a lot that can be said for keeping things simple, using a bit of light humor and leaving more to the imagination.
